Parents/guardians must email or call the Attendance Office when their child is going to be absent.

Students absent all day should check in before school; students returning from an absence after the start of school should check in before going on to class. Have a written note explaining your absence or walk in with your guardian, when checking back into school.

The note should be written and signed by your parent/guardian and should include your name, the date(s) you have been absent and the reason for your absence.  NO ONE except your parent or guardian may sign an excuse for an absence.

Students, who have appointments during the school day, must bring a note or call the Attendance Office in the morning to be released early.

Parents must sign their child “OUT” at the attendance office.

STUDENTS ABSENT FROM SCHOOL MORE THAN TWO PERIODS ON THE DAY A SCHOOL FUNCTION IS SCHEDULED (GAME, DANCE, ETC.) ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE PART IN THAT ACTIVITY, EXCUSED OR NOT.

Vacation & Trips

Going on a vacation or trip? Please bring a note to the attendance office a WEEK BEFORE you leave! Not to the teachers. Please contact teachers for any work your student needs.

Tardies

Any student who arrives in class after the tardy bell rings is tardy.  Consequences for the first three tardies of each quarter are the responsibility of the classroom teacher.  On the 4th tardy, students will be referred to the office and an after school detention will be assigned.  The fifth tardy will result in a Friday school detention.  The sixth tardy will result in a Friday school detention, and the student will be placed on the Loss of Privilege List for twenty school days.

Truancy

Students are truant if they leave school  without  permission; report to class over 30 minutes late with no verified excuse; come to school but do not attend classes; or obtain permission to go to a certain place but do not report there. Students who are considered truant will be asked to attend a SART meeting after only 6 unexcused absences. The school will reach out and schedule the SART when needed.      Santa Rosa Middle School is a closed campus.  Students are not permitted to leave school at any time during the school day without permission.
